In 1975 I was been trained for the position of manager in the Foschini group. I’ll never forget my manager telling me that salesmanship is more than just selling. It’s about caring.
On Saturday (after applying for a loan 2 days earlier) I arrived at your place of business to buy the tyre/ rim combo. My vehicle’s present state of both tyres and rims was in a pathetic state.
When it came to make payment, I presented my debit card and after 3 or 4 times it still rejected the card. By this time I was getting all flustered and quite embarrassed.
Your lady (not sure of her name) took me ever so gently into her office and allowed me to use her computer and do the necessary. She kept assuring me (I’m sure the expression on my face said it all) that “It’s ok”. Then she brought me a mug of coffee, and within minutes the payment went through.
So, I say again, although selling is your business, caring about customers (really caring) should never be too far behind selling. I reckon every time I drive past Autoquip, I’ll remember this patient kind lady till I can’t remember no more."
